Hello sunshine

Say hello to my little friend: a 13 inch macbook pro. Ever since graduation, I've been making do with going on the family computer/my ipod touch (my pc laptop had bit the dust), but now I've finally invested in a baby of my very own. It's like a pet that I just want to stay home and play with. Oh, it is love.

Paris Plage

In 2002, Paris started this yearly event called Paris Plage, where they re-create a beachside atmosphere for all the residents that can't afford to go on vacation. They truck in sand and palm trees and arrange it on the edges of the Seine. There's even a pool! According to the dates, this was going on while I was in Paris a few summers ago, but I had no idea. Bummer.

Life List: 1

Zip lining in Costa Rica. Um, how amazing would that be? I think it would make you feel so alive.

I love LA

Spent most of the weekend visiting my lovely cousin at her new apartment in LA. It was a wonderful time, filled with: gelato, air conditioning, strawberries, macarons, champagne, farmers market, the grove and lots and lots of The OC. Forgot how much I love that show.

Summer, summer, summertime

The weather in So Cal has been so pleasantly mild this summer....until now. Now, it seems like the weather is playing catch up. And it is hot hot HOT out there. We've been sizzling somewhere around the 100's all week. Whew! This is the part of summer that bugs me. While that weather is great if your plans involve a pool, some popsicles, or a nice nap in an air conditioned room....it's not conducive to actually getting real stuff done. Running to Target becomes a test of how fast you can sprint to the AC without getting sweat stains on your clothes. And nothing kills my creative fashion spirit faster than hot temps. I mean, one can only wear a tank top and shorts so many times before you're even making yourself yawn with style boredom. How do you handle the rise in temperature? Stick with simple styles? Or keep on rocking your fashion best, with just less layers?

Girl Crush: Blake Lively

Girl Crush: A girl whose style you love. Whose closet you want to raid. Who you want to be friends with. A girl you aspire to more like....in a totally non-creepy way.

I'm crushing on Blake Lively. Yeah, the character she plays on GG is slightly annoying (side note: the last pic is from the filming of the new season...so excited!). But doesn't Blake seem like someone it would be fun to hang out with? Plus, her closet would be to die for.

Life List

I think having a life list is a wonderful idea. mylifelist.org lets you post and share (or not share) your life list, and check it off when you're done. You can even browse other people's lists for ideas. Who knows, maybe something you never knew existed will jump to the top of your list. I'll post selected items from my list on here from time to time.

J. Crew Fall

Ok, so by now you may know I have a special spot in my heart for J. Crew. Which is funny, because I don't own anything from there and never go into their store. It's pure fantasy. Their catalog is one of my favs to flip through (the others being, of course, Ikea and Anthro). Jenna Lyons kills it as creative director. I wish I had her job. So while I probably won't ever regularly shop there (I'm not made of money after all), a girl can dream. Or there's always Madewell.

Bell Jars

I first fell in love with the idea of decorating with bell jars in this post. Still loving it. Doesn't it make everything seem that much more special?

An Education

Finally netflixed An Education. Loved it. (It doesn't hurt that it took place in two of my fav cities: London and Paris) Not only was it a great coming-of-age tale, but the styling was ah-mazing. 60's London? Ridic. Jenny, a young schoolgirl, meets an older man who introduces her to a whole different life. As they become more deeply involved, red flags keep popping up, but she's still swept up in the glamourous life he offers her. I won't ruin the end, just see it. The montage in Paris is particularly striking.

Party in the USA

Whew. The last few weeks for me have been nonstop. I'm gonna take this long weekend to relax and rest up. Here's what I plan on enjoying this weekend: smores, the huge stack of unread books and magazines hovering by my bed, too much food, the beach, old friends, and lots of naps.
