Fashion Books

I'm an avid reader and a fashion fiend, so style books are a no brainer for me. Here are some of my recent faves:

This covers 10 iconic styles including bombshell, rock and roll and gamine (my favorite). It reads much like an issue of Lucky, with each chapter covering the key pieces of that look, how to put them together, and how to mix and match them to get the most bang for your buck. There are tons of pieces in here that I wish I could rip out and paste into my inspiration book!

I love visiting Who What Wear to check out their inspiring collages, so when I heard they were coming out with a book, I ran out to Borders to buy it. While it's more of a "basic" fashion book than I need, it's still packed with great tips on how to incorporate celeb style and trends into your real life wardrobe. It also has a whole chapter on those hard-to-dress-for events, like weddings and reunions.

Since my cousin and I both have November birthdays, we decided to go together to use our Anthropologie bday discounts (if you're not signed up for their card yet, you should be!) While I didn't find any clothes that called my name that day, I did find this book, and I'm really glad I did. Each chapter covers a different style, ranging from "eclectic" to "minimal," and they all come jam-packed with inspiring pictures. Seriously, there are so many amazing images in here, I'm a little bit overwhelmed! Brooks doesn't just use the "typical" style icons like Audrey Hepburn (although I love her), she literally draws inspiration from everyone, from Keith Richards to Chanel! Plus, at the end of each chapter is a list of amazing books and movies to provide even more food for thought. There's also a ton of tips on how to buy basics, designer pieces and vintage clothes. Can you tell I love this book??

On a recent trip to Anthro with my mom (clearly I go there a lot), we saw this book in the sale section for half off! Of course, we scooped it up. I haven't had a chance to do more than flip through it so far, but I'm already drooling over all the gorgeous pictures. Covering looks and trends from 1900 to 1990, there's something for everyone in this book. I'm loving the looks from the '30s and '40s. Check this one out for the in-depth look into fashion history and the beautiful vintage pictures.

Have you read any good fashion books lately?
